If ya liked it than ya shoulda put a (pin) on it.
- Pinback buttons
- Nail polish
- Spray paint
- Repositionable Vinyl Stickers
For this set of three, I made two punctuation themed buttons and one glittery button. These are fairly easy to make and look cute in groups! They also look great mixed n' matched in with other pins you may have.
1. Cover the button in a coat of nail polish to hide whatever design was underneath. If needed, apply a second coat of polish once the first has dried. Set the buttons aside and wait 45 minutes for the polish to dry completely.
(1.5 For the small glittery button, I just applied a coat of modge podge glue and sprinkled glitter all over it! Let it dry for 10 minutes, pick up the pin and shake off any excess glitter, and voilá)
2. Place the decals on the buttons in whatever way you'd like. I got my vinyl stickers from a pack of repositionable letters at Michael's. It's important they're the repositionable kind - not the permanent - otherwise you won't be able to take them off! I decided on using the punctuation marks, but feel free to use whatever letters you'd like.
For the apostrophe pin I used the actual stickers, and for the ampersand pin, I cut out the vinyl around the sticker so that the spray paint would make the shape.
3. Pick out a color of spray paint. I matched white spray paint with orange, and light blue with the dark gold. Make sure you're outside or in a well-ventilated area! Hold the can about a foot away from the pin and apply a thin coat of spray paint. Wait 10 minutes, and apply another coat to make the color more opaque.
4. Wait at least a half hour for the spray paint to dry, then carefully peel off the vinyl stickers. And ta da! Your fun pinback buttons will add a lil pizazz to whatever you put them on.
