Potato-stamped Wrapping Paper

PotaTOE, Potaaaahto, Stamp, StAAAHmp?
What's better to begin our series on DIY wrapping paper than something with potatoes! (huh.. yeah just roll with it) Create your own ~crafty~ and personality-filled wraps using this super simple method.

Happy belated holidays & mwah,
Jacqueline and Katherine

For this you will need:
- Potatoes!!!!!!
- A knife
- Tools to carve
- Acrylic paint
- Large sheets of paper

Cut the potato in half. Yeah.

Using whatever tools are easier for you, begin to shape your potato into whatever shape you'd like.

Here, I wanted to make one that was a circle with a snowflake carved into it.

I have a future in potato carving.

Now that the stamp shape is created, I can begin carving the flake into it.

This is me struggling to carve a snowflake.... definitely trickier than it looks!

Once your stamp is created, dab off any dampness on the potato and cover it in a thin, even coat of paint!

We found it easiest to lay out a plate and pour out the paint on it - making re-application of paint much easier.

Lay out da paper!

Begin stamping!

I used the stamp several times before re-applying paint to get varied levels of opacity in the design.

I threw in a lil white paint for pizazz.

Finished wrapping paper!

Katherine also made fun star and candy cane stamps.

Happy crafting!
